Review Spuds & Aprons Singapore

From my blog you will note that food is something isn’t something that we often blog about nor does it feature much in our posts about our adventures.  However, our meal at Spuds & Aprons was a fabulous combination of gorgeous food, beautiful setting and fun activities for children which is always important when you have little children in tow.  So we decided to include a review of Spuds & Aprons, Singapore in our blog.

Location

Spuds & Aprons is set atop Faber Peak just outside the entrance of the skyride to Sentosa Island.  The restaurant offers gorgeous views of the Singaporean skyline and mainland Singapore.  As the weather in Singapore is glorious all year round, there are no windows so you can have an unobstructed view of the city at your feet.  The location is perfect for lunch on the way to Sentosa or for an evening on the night after a full day at Sentosa.

Things for the children to do

My little adventurers have serious ants in their pants and teats one of the things that puts me off restaurants.  However, the restaurant has a couple of lovely and unique activities that will easily entertain the children until the food is ready.  The first is that you are able to purchase fish food to feed the resident fish.  The little adventurers just loved watching the fish swimming around and were delighted to be given fish food to having the fish join them for dinner.

Once the children were satisfied that all the fish were suitable fed, we took them to see the railings around the restaurant.  Around the entire restaurant the walls are covered with little gold bells. We had seen these bells in various temples in Thailand and I loved the idea.  Similar to the lock bridge in Paris, a tradition in the Far East is to write a wish on the bells and attach these to the walls and chosen points in temples.  The bells are a sight to behold as you can see from the photographs below and it was a really nice touch to the vibe of the restaurant.  We got a bell for each child (even the teen in the group did one) and they spent a while decorating their bells before choosing where they would leave their mark. This activity was perfect for all ages and Maya easily spent 20-30 minutes making hers stand out!

The food

We are by no means foodies but the selection and quality of food options at Spud & Aprons was lovely.  The meat and poultry was not halal but there was ample vegetarian and seafood options available for us all to try.  Singaporeans love their food and it was apparent with the size of the meals but also the quality of the ingredients.  The seafood was really fresh and the size of the prawns was staggering.  The children loved the gravy chips and crab starters.  We are not big eaters and the portions were huge and easy enough to share.  Below are the mouthwatering pictures of our meal!

Now no post about a restaurant would be complete without a mention of a gorgeous dessert.  We ordered the Jar of Happiness (best name ever for a dessert) which was a mason jar filled with shortbread biscuits, almond flakes, mixed berries, Haagen Daaz vanilla ice cream topped with warm berry compote.  Talk about really hitting the spot (and I’m sure hundreds of calories to boot) but it was fabulous!

We were truly stuffed after a big, hearty lunch and had a great time at the Spuds & Aprons. I would recommend this for a family and its one of those restaurants that will leave a lasting impression and had lovely element which made it into a real experience.

Nisbah

I am a traveller, mother and blogger. We love to go on adventures (big and small, near and far) and strive to show our children how amazing and beautiful the world is! I caught the travel bug many moons ago and despite having three little adventurers, I still suffer from "itchy" feet. We love the great outdoors and one another. Come and join the fun :)

It looks like you had a lovely day! I am a pescetarian which means that it is hard sometimes to find nice tasty food because most places have lots of meat on the menu. This food looks absolutely delicious – all that cheeseeeee!!!
