Regatta Vanern 4 Tent Review

On our recent scout’s Jamboree, we were looking for good tents which would be fit for the use of our scouts and would continue to perform well for many more camps in the future.  We took the Regatta Vanern 4 man tent with us and it was a resounding success.  The girl scouts who used the tent loved it and here’s what we thought of the Regatta Vanern 4 Tent.

The Regatta Vanern 4 Tent

Even though the tent was only a 4 man it was one of the heaviest tents we had for our camp. The tent weighs 18kg and required a couple of our scouts to hold the tent together to carry it from the car park to the pitching area.  The first time we were able to pitch the tent was at the actual Jamboree and the instructions were straightforward and the scouts with the help of a leader were able to put the tent up quickly and with no trouble.   For a 4 man tent, the tent is really big and perfect even for taller explorers.  I was really impressed that the height of the tent is the same throughout so even in the sleeping area you can comfortably stand whereas with normal tents this is usually restricted to the main living area.

The size and build quality of the tent are of the highest quality and its shape is a little more unique than the other usual tent shapes so makes it perfect for spotting in a huge event like a jamboree. The inside of the tent was great too as the rooms can be separated into two and have darker lining helping to get a better nights sleep and would be great for younger children,  In addition, having the option of two sleeping areas means you can really use the tent for long periods and especially for families it really provides a solution for those camping for longer periods.. The porch at the front of the tent is perfect to store things like wellies etc

During the event, we encountered some horrendous downpours, with one day of the entire camp making everything completely waterlogged.  The tent has a 5000 hydrostatic head rating and we were so pleased that it performed so well in the rain.  We had a few other tents in our group which unfortunately didn’t fare as well.

What we loved

The hydrostatic head is 5000 and perfect for weather conditions which we encountered.
The height of the tent was great and is the same throughout the tent.
Lots of thought was given to the design with velcro ties for the electirc cables, sewn in light hooks and removable sleeping compartment divider.
Plenty of space within the tent and it would suitable for a short or longer break.

Things to be aware of:

Weight is over 18 kgs which is the higher end for a 4 man tent and makes it harder to manage if there is a long walk between the car park and pitching area.
The tent is on the bigger size so if perfect for a longer break but may not be suitable for a few night camping trip.
Overall, we were really impressed with the tent, it performed really well in the weather conditions and all the occupants of the tents raved about how spacious, dry and fun it was to sleep in.  I think this is a perfect tent for families.

I am a traveller, mother and blogger. We love to go on adventures (big and small, near and far) and strive to show our children how amazing and beautiful the world is! I caught the travel bug many moons ago and despite having three little adventurers, I still suffer from "itchy" feet. We love the great outdoors and one another. Come and join the fun :)
