Tips and guide for the Geronimo Festival
We had the most amazing time at the Geronimo Festival last year and can’t wait to go again this year. If you have not booked tickets yet, DO!! You will have a great day and return home shattered but after having had a fantastic day out. We have done a full review here but we thought we would put together a tips and guide for the Geronimo Festival to ensure you have a fantastic day. This years festival is bigger and even more jam packed then last year. You will have an amazing time!
Before leaving home
- Take a packed lunch with you. There are plenty of food places but it makes life so much easier having food with you and you can eat it whilst you wait for activities and build it into your day.
- Also take plenty of snacks as the kids will be famished with all the running around. Well fed kids, mean happy kids. These are perfect for some downtime too, when you are watching shows etc.
- Decide on the things that you definitely want to do at the festival and would be gutted to miss out on. We are very much go with the flow kind of family but we got very lucky with a few of the attractions but we unfortunately missed the Zip line. There will be loads to see and do on the day and its really easy to forget some of the things that you wanted to see.
- Try and plan a bit of day out to make sure you get the activities ticked off. Below are the timetables for day, hope it helps with your planning.
Timetable – 1st May (Harwwood House, Leeds)
Timetable – 2nd May (Harwwood House, Leeds)
Timetable – 29th May (Tatton Park, Cheshire)
Timetable – 30th May (Tatton Park, Cheshire)
- Take a picnic blanket, there was plenty of seating areas, sofas etc but our children decided they couldn’t continue past the donkeys so we just sat down and had lunch in the area there. It was good to have that flexibility to stop whenever you wanted to.
- Make the children wear easy to slip on shoes. You will be taking the shoes off for the bouncy castles, hammocks, tree top nets so it can get very tiresome (especially if you have 3 little adventurers) having boots or shoes which are a struggle to put on.
- If you have a child less than 3 years old I would definitely take a pushchair. Not only is it perfect to let little legs rest, it makes it much easier to put the bags and shoes together when you are waiting.
- Take some money. We only bought ice cream and there wasn’t a way of paying on your card plus at Tatton Park you will have to pay for parking.
On the day
- Try and arrive early. We had an eventful morning on the day of the festival so were slightly delayed and felt like we were playing catch up for the rest of the day.
- Remember where you have propeciafinasteridestore.com parked the car….
- As you enter I would head straight for the tree nets they will be in the woods. You need to book a slot and when people went there around 1, the days sessions were already booked out. The tree nets are fantastic fun and something which will be new to most children. highly recommended!!
- Next, head to the zip wire and climbing ropes. This was the longest queue of the day and we eventually gave up and didn’t actually get to have a go. The kids were absolutely gutted as it looks like great fun.
- The only other attraction with a queue (for more then 10 minutes) throughout the day was the Helter Skelter. I would do this next so all the big things have been ticked off when the grounds are still at their quietest.
- Ensure that you do the meet & greets that you want to, the kids loved meeting Mr Bloom and we were super excited about meeting Luke and Emma.
- There are so many fantastic activities on, there were so many that looked fantastic and we didn’t get to see (definitely next year).
- The circus is a great little show and is ideal for a little time out and giving the children to have a little bit of a rest.
- The donkeys were great and lots of children get to have a go together. If you are staying with your child, just watch all the donkey poo….
- Don’t try and pack too much into the day. I would recommend that you enjoy the activities that you are dong without trying to do them all. You will get stressed and not even enjoy the ones you are doing.
- During the day, take about half an hour where you just sit and watch everything going on, whether it be the funky winged scooters, the fluttering butterflies or just watching a show or two. The real aspect of a festival is taking in all the things and enjoying the simpler things in life.
- The dance school is great for budding dancers and its lovely that they get to put on a show after practising. Maya loved it.
- Queue times are great for almost everything from the food to all the activities to the toilets. I have been to so many events like this but this one was one of the best for having ample choice of activities and queues really short.
You will have a fantastic day out and there are so many things on my list that we didn’t get to do. This just highlights the fact that there is SOOO much variety on show that you will be spoilt for choice! These were our three adventurers as we left the car park…..
I hope you all have a fantastic day. We would love to hear what you think of the tips and if you go, how you found the day!
Great tips Nisbah. We are heading on the Sunday to Tatton Park and its our first time going. I will definitely pack a rug and snacks for eating on the go. I know my daughter is desperate to do the zip wire so I think we will head there first. Love the picture of the 3 of them zonked out in the car. Sign of a fantastic day out lol x
Just reading these tips now – thanks. We aren’t going to take a packed lunch as want to sample some of the food that’s available but we will pack snacks! We’ll be sure to head to the tree top nets first x
