Happy Anniversary

So today is our 9th wedding anniversary so I have been thinking what I should give to Doc as a present.  As many of you know I am a stay at home mum so all the income in the house is earned by Doc himself.  So instead of buying him a present I decided to dedicate my post today to him!  Happy Anniversary Doc!  So here’s all the things that make me love my hubby:

Great Husband

Glamping

We argue like any other couple but majority of the tine we get along so well. Doc is my best friend and soul mate.  He is always there to lend me a hand and has always been my biggest supporter and believer in whatever (crazy) idea I may have come up with.  Doc spends his every waking moment ensuring that I have a smile on my face and that he makes me happy.  I am often a little too preoccupied  (stressed and harassed) with the children and may often not show how much I do appreciate his efforts and love.  But I do!!

Awesome Father

Doc spends his entire life making sure that his children are always happy.  But that’s not only providing the money to run the house and pay the bills, he is the fun parent.  I can always hear him and the children laughing wholeheartedly (the type of laughter that you need to stop to catch your breath) whether he is playing games with them, dancing or exercising.  He is the biggest kid at heart from the four of them but I think in today’s society it is often overlooked.  Doc is the one who will bake with the children, make pancakes on pancake days and inspire them in so many ways that it is truly heart warming.

Doc is amazed by Maya

As everyone knows a father is totally ruled by his princesses and in our house things are no different.  From the moment Maya was born Doc has been totally overpowered in every way by our baby.  She literally has him wrapped around her little finger and I can see him melting like butter in her little palm.  For me one of the loveliest things to see is how close they are and the immense pride she gives him.  I remember at one of her parents evenings last year the teacher was telling us lots of lovely things about Maya and Doc was literally glowing with pride.  Think Ready Brek advert and central heating for kids… She is officially the central heating which keeps his heart glowing with pride and the rest of him warm.

Amazing Mind

The man is too clever for his own good.  But it’s not the kind of clever that you can be taught, it’s the immense inner cleverness that few people are gifted with.  I remember from my working days, the phrase “always think outside of the box,” to make yourself stand out and unique! Doc thinks so much outside of the box that often I don’t think he can even see the box.  I cannot help but marvel at how his mind works and so often the things he thinks about are so immense (and very random) that I cannot fathom what must be going through his mind. Heres a few things that Doc has thought about this week:

Did you ever wonder how much water there is on earth? Why is New Years on the 1st January and not the start of spring? What does Chill Factor mean?

Role Model and Mentor

For Docs birthday in December, our beautiful niece wrote this message in his card:

I thought it was lovely and shows the impact that Doc has across our family and was even more touching and heart felt coming from a fourteen year old.  Doc is one of the most genuine and loveliest person you will meet.  He is always there to listen and engage with the children and he will give them his full and complete modafinil200mg.net attention which is often all that children want and need.  He is always looking for things that he thinks and knows that the children will like and cannot wait to share that with them!

Selfless

Doc is one of the most selfless people I know.  He will happily sacrifice his time and energy if it will help someone.  Doc is always there as a good son, grandson, brother or friend to anyone who would need it.  The weeks his grandmother was taken ill, he was at the hospital day and night with his mum to ensure that there was help at hand and someone to speak to the Doctors.  This side of Doc is often overlooked by people but it remains one of his most endearing features!

Introvert

The whole introvert / extrovert debate is going as strong as ever but I think being an introvert is a quality which is often overlooked.  There are so many articles out there on this issue and I can vouch that marrying an introvert is the best thing I have done.  They think (A LOT), they have amazing, creative minds, they love in-depth discussion and they make awesome fathers and life partners.  But be warned they will get distracted, Doc can go into the kitchen to get some milk, 30 minutes later he will return with the cat in his arms, a treat for me, the light switch fixed and the plans for future DIY on the house decided but no milk (and also no recollection that he went to get milk!)

Mr Gadget

Who remembers the cartoon Mr Gadget?  Well Doc is a combination of him and the little Chinese boy from the film The Goonies.  I love the way he knows and is up to date on all the techy stuff.  It’s not really my area of interest but Doc is literally amazed and gleefully excited having discovered something new.  He has a gadget for most things or knows of one.  I can imagine a younger Doc having and making gadgets.  At least our little adventurers will be at the forefront of all the latest gadgety trends!

Animal lover

IMG_2293

Doc loves animals, whether it was the fish that we got after winning one at the fair, to our baby kittens.  I love the way Doc encourages our little adventurers to love all animals and not to be scared of them.  From making Maya holding a Cray Fly to Raihan holding a woodlouse, Doc is always keen on getting the children to not fear but to understand everything.  Whilst we were in Fiji, a cyclone had hit the island and we found an injured bird outside our room.  Doc brought it in and made it a bed, created a little incubator (i tell you the man is a genius) to keep it warm and wrapped up its damaged wing.  After day the bird was recovering (Doc would pop into the room to check on it every 30 mins)  but it died later that day, leaving a very upset Doc.

Adventurous

franz Josef

We are called the fiveadventurers and each of us in adventurous in our own way.  Doc shares my love and passion for travel and has a great sense of adventure.  His life long dream is to go to Base camp (one day we will get there).  Doc believes in my dream to travel the world with the children even if the rest of the family think we have lost our mind!  Doc is there every day to help me plan and carry out our plans and adventures and never complains about the driving or the days out I have planned!

So I wanted to say a big thank you to my lovely husband, you are more amazing than you know and loved and cherished by all!  Remain and amazing as you are, the little adventurers and I are immensely proud of you and love you with the every essence of our being!  Happy Anniversary!

I am a traveller, mother and blogger. We love to go on adventures (big and small, near and far) and strive to show our children how amazing and beautiful the world is! I caught the travel bug many moons ago and despite having three little adventurers, I still suffer from "itchy" feet. We love the great outdoors and one another. Come and join the fun :)

Wow! So many nice things said about me..
I’m not that good at taking compliments… I’m not going to complain..
Thank you for making me feel valued and wanted and Happy Anniversary..

It’s been a journey during past 9 years and it has been my pleasure looking after the family (in reality being looked after 🙂 ) .
I know that with 3 kiddies it can be a bit much ,putting a lot of strain on our relationship, but thankfully we’ve pulled through and hopefully it will gradually become easier (at least for a few years before they reach their teenage years!!)

Thank you for being you, I wouldn’t have done half the things that we’ve done if it weren’t for your adventurous spirit and desire to explore. I hope that our kids inherit the same enthusiasm and passion.

Be happy and keep smiling 🙂

    Ash (aka doc)

My dream is to go to base camp as well. I went as high as Tengaboche back in 2007, it was my dream to see Everest. Now that I have, I want to touch her! #thelist

      Hi Natasha

Thanks for reading, I must admit I was in a particularly loving mood when writing that article. Base camp will be something we hope to do once the kids are older. Thanks for reading 🙂

  4. This post has made me smile so much! Your husband looks lovely 🙂 I love that first shot of the family, you all look like you’re having a ball! thanks for linking to #Thelist xx

Thanks Hannah, the post made me smile lots too. Often, I think we end up forgetting all the reasons why we fell in love with our hubbies and its nice to put it down on paper. You realise just how awesome they are and how lucky you are to have them. That family shot is one of my favourites. 🙂

What a lovely post. It’s often lovely to read on mummy blogs how much we love our little ones but it’s beautiful to see how much you love and cherish your husband and what a good team you make. As a new mum it’s sometimes hard to stop and appreciate your partner as much as you used to but your lovely words have shown you can really make it work together 🙂 x

    • Nisbah says:

      Hi Emily

Awww thank you so much for your lovely comment. Did bring a smile to my face 🙂 I totally agree, when you are a new mum it is so hard to focus on your relationship and 6 years later, I can often be a bit neglectful. But Doc is a true star and I do love him wholeheartedly.

      Thanks for reading xx

What a really, really lovely post. He sounds like an amazing husband and father! It is so nice seeing these kind of posts praising partners (rather than grumbling as they sleep through the noise of crying babies!)
Thanks for joining in with #SundayStars

    • Nisbah says:

Aww thank you Karen. I think we are often harder on our partners than they deserve. I am as guilty as the next person for whinging about my hubby but I think we all need to take a step back once in a while to remember why we fell for them in the first place.:)
