Best Halal Restaurants in Manchester

IMG_6927

I am not really a foodie but I love to showcase as many different experiences as possible.  Manchester was my home and place of work for many years and will forever hold a special place in my heart (it was where I met Doc too).  Even after moving back to Lancashire we still visit the city all the time and find that there is tons of thing to do in the city for families from great museums to lovely parks and the food options are excellent, especially for Muslim travellers.  The easiest place to find heaps of choice is the Curry Mile in Rusholme but for those seeking something a little different then the traditional, Indian meal out, below are some of the best, Halal restaurants in Manchester.

Ning Restaurant

We had my baby shower at the restaurant and I love the vibe and food at the restaurant.  Serving some of the finest, halal Malaysian food, you will be spoilt for choice.  The restaurant is located in the trendy Northern Quarter of Manchester and is a great place to try something a little different.  The restaurant is small without being cramped and I loved the variety that the menu entailed. In addition, any aspiring chefs can attend some of the cookery lessons hosted by the restaurant.  Details are here.

Vermillion

Located just down the road from the Manchester City football, Vermillion is a fantastic restaurant.  Located less then half a mile from central Manchester, arriving to the restaurant, it is near in a huge car park.  Don’t let this put you off as the inside of restaurant is stunning. Vermillion is famous for its luxury design and enchanting Eastern atmosphere, created by Miguel Cancio Martins.  The 3-storey labyrinth includes an opulent restaurant, with an authentic delectable Indian & Thai menu, an exclusive cocktail bar (with resident DJ every Saturday), private dining options and an exquisite function room.  The atmosphere and food is great and you will not be disappointed with the options that are available!

Cabana – Brazilia

Located in the Corn Exchange (which is also home to lots of food places), Cabana offers some gorgeous halal food options.  From the moment you enter the restaurant, you cannot help with feel the samba vibes.  From the funky lights, to hammock chairs there is laid back, cool vibe to the restaurants.  We have visited twice and loved the food and dining experience.  Just be aware that the entire menu is not halal.  We were informed that the chicken, lamb and rib-eye steak are the halal choices.

Ocean 235

We are normally family focused but this choice operate an over 18’s policy, but we loved that they offer something a little different.  Situated within The Great Northern Warehouse, in central Manchester Ocean 235 offers some of the best Chinese food. The restaurant is ideally located to combine with a visit to Manchester’s theatres, all a short walking distance away.  The menu is predominately Chinese but there are also a few additional choices.  Again with this restaurant not all the food is halal but halal food options can be requested.

Sapparo

Having your food prepared in front of you is quite awesome to watch.  Everyone has to try tappenyaki at least once, and Sapparo are able to cater for halal food which much be requested.   Tappenyaki sees the chef. cut, cook and serve your food to your plate from the central stove.  Its a experience and having a huge fire is part and parcel of the dining experience.

I love that Sapparo also have special family dining days, information relating to which can be found here.

Zouk

After the success of the restaurant in Bradford, the Manchester branch was opened.  The restaurant is located in the heart of Manchester and offers Pakistani and Indian authentic cuisine but served in modern, comfortable surroundings.  I like that the restaurant has a full theatre kitchen which allows diners to catch all the action and gives the restaurant a real buzz.  The restaurant has a huge variety on its menu and is renown for many dishes including extensive seafood which looks amazing.  In 2012, Zouk has won the prestigious Best Restaurant Award in the Manchester Tourism Awards.

Red Hot World Buffet

We love variety and good value for money and the Red Hot World Buffet is the perfect combination of both. Located on Deansgate the restaurant is perfect for those visiting the city for shopping, the MEN or any of the theatres.  The restaurant has the most varied buffet that we have seen with food from all over the globe and its a buffet you can really try such a huge variety in one meal it is an impressive feat.  I love that the restaurant are keen to get children and families into the restaurant and try to make it fun for the children too.  The restaurant has Live Stations or create their own dishes, as many times as they like.  Even for the fussiest eaters, there is so much variety from mains to desserts that there is something for everyone.  In addition, the restaurant often has live shows, a mascot who really helps to entertain the children.  Manchester does have lots of great buffet restaurants but for central Manchester, this is one of the best by far!

I am a traveller, mother and blogger. We love to go on adventures (big and small, near and far) and strive to show our children how amazing and beautiful the world is! I caught the travel bug many moons ago and despite having three little adventurers, I still suffer from "itchy" feet. We love the great outdoors and one another. Come and join the fun :)

  1. Thank you so much for the recommendation of Red Hot World Buffet! I completely agree with you about the immense choice and it was only the finite size of my (huge) stomach that stopped me trying even more delicious dishes. I will definitely be visiting there again (even though your other suggestions look great too) when we go to Manchester again. Thank you!!

I haven’t been to Manchester yet but I remember seeing Zouk in Bradford, when we had gone there for some work. I like Red Hot World Buffet. They are in different places across the UK. Have been to the ones in Leicester & Leeds. Wish they were in London too.
